Description of Duties: Performs civil/construction design and oversight for a variety of facilities or conservation related projects statewide. Assignments may include projects relating to wildlife habitat enhancements, construction and maintenance on thirty- seven jurisdictional dams, shooting range maintenance and construction, restoration, maintenance and enhancement projects on over 30 wildlife areas, maintenance and construction at six fish hatcheries, statewide boating access projects, and a variety of facilities projects at six Regional Offices and other Game and Fish Commission owned/managed properties. Directs/oversees architectural and civil engineering consultants contracted by the Department in the development of plans, specifications and technical reports, ensuring they meet programmatic needs. Administers construction activities, including contract development and procurement, inspections ensuring compliance with plans, specifications and applicable codes, pay requests, change orders, inter/intra-agency coordination and related correspondence. Oversees projects implemented by Department construction or heavy equipment crews, including procurement of materials. Provides consultation on alternatives and cost estimates for civil/construction related projects and other engineering related support to other work units within the Department. Pursues necessary documentation for National Environmental Policy Act compliance or technical review and approval for projects as needed, including permits from the Army Corps of Engineers, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, Arizona Department of Water Resources, coordinating and securing permission or concurrence from the State Historic Preservation Office, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, etc. Participates on cross-functional teams within the Department.
